Hydrothermal vents are discovered primarily within the abyssal zone; chemosynthetic micro organism make the most of the hydrogen sulfide and other minerals emitted from the vents. These chemosynthetic micro organism use the hydrogen sulfide as an energy source and serve as the base of the meals chain discovered within the abyssal zone. Coral Reefs Coral reefs are ocean ridges formed by marine invertebrates dwelling in heat shallow waters within the photic zone of the ocean. The Great Barrier Reef is a well-known known|a widely known} reef system positioned quantity of} miles off the northeastern coast of Australia. The coral organisms (members of phylum Cnidaria) are colonies of saltwater polyps that secrete a calcium carbonate skeleton.
